9 years later...

I finally got around to putting the finishing touches on an altered frame I made. Only took a bazillion years since I promised that I would post it. I was inspired by Tim Holtz configurations of course. I really really really wanted to alter one of his framed boxes really bad one day so I decided to make my own with an old shoe box, glue gun, and paper. I only did a little measuring and eyeballed most of it (I'm an eyeballer, sometimes I'm just too darn lazy) annnnnnnnnd then got all crazy with the spices and ta da!!!!!

This was soooooo much fun to make. I was wandering around the house just looking for anything to glue on it. My husband was thoroughly entertained every time I came to him asking if I could have another piece of his hardware to glue on to this thing. I used a bazillion mediums I couldn't even think to list them all, I probably don't even remember them all. But all I know is it was sooo much fun to make! I also had the opportunity to do some good old fashioned scrapping over the weekend! It was the first time I made a 12x12 in a loooooong time and it felt so good! So of course I have to include pictures of that as well...

The flowers on there are hand made by meeeee! I'll be featuring them in my soon to come etsy shop!! (oh snap) So keep your eyes open for that. And to finsh off my post I will also include a few frames I got over the weekend.

I know this last one is nothing spectacular but I really really like it. Not sure why. I was just messing around with the mf so I know its not completely in focus but I really like the way the lights hitting his face and his expression. Its just cute :) and he doesn't let me photograph him much. He didn't know I was taking this...... I'm sneaky like that. But I am seriously loving learning more and more about my camera. I'm quite shutter happy! And just you all wait until I get my hands on some actions and textures! I have big plans I tell you big plans! I'm just trying to figure out how to explain to my husband why on earth I need them.... hmmmmm....

Paca Portraits

Believe it or not, I grew up on an alpaca farm... *crickets*  Yes its true. So after the not so surprise snow I asked my mom if I could take some paca portraits while I was over there, so maybe they could use them for their website if they wanted. I thought it would be really really good practice for me to try to take properly exposed photos in the snow and super harsh sunlight of moving alpaca targets. It was challenging! But it was a super good learning experience for me. I felt like I learned how to become one with the viewfinder haha. Yes I am crazy. The challenging thing about alpacas is they have to be RIGHT in your face the second you get out there. Although that just happens to be a specialty of my parents alpacas (they breed for disposistion among other things) so they're very friendly. But fortunately enough for me I love close ups! I love the detail you can capture in a photograph that otherwise remains unseen because we all lead such busy lives. It sort of just forces you to pause and look. So heres some of the shots I got (in case you were wondering what an alpaca was haha.) And if you love them so much you want to buy an alpaca of your very own (you know you want one kids! they're cuddly!) you can visit my parents website http://foreverpreciousalpacas.com/. They have some package deals going on! Enjoy the pictures, I now have to go clean the alpaca nose prints off my lens.

And now ladies and gentlemen for your viewing pleasure...

I couldn't possibly get a new camera and then not post some pictures now could I?! Then what kind of Bretail would I be?? I don't know! Anywho, I haven't had a lot of time on my hands, life kind of gets in the way of the fun stuff sometimes, but I managed to sneak a few shots in my parents basement. Annnnnnnnd one of my cat in.... the laundry basket?

Ahhhh the one of my cat in the laundry basket/dungeon cracks me up, it very very very much captures her crazy personality. I am learning more and more every day! Now I'm just excited to get scrapping some of these photos! Now tomorrow (hopefully) I'll have time to put the finishing touches on a frame I've been working on. I made it entirely from scratch (aka old shoebox). I'm really excited about it, it's a little crazy, but hopefully I can get pics up tomorrow of it. If not tomorrow then maybe saturday. If not saturday then maybe sometime next month.... hmmmmm.......

This is a post I would like to call... "Bretail"

My very very very dear husband gave me the biggest awesomest most surprising surprise friday night. We were going to visit with our besties and we got out of the car and my husband opens the trunk and theres a gift bag in it. So I was slightly confused I was like what's that??? And he said it was for me. So I was like what am I supposed to do with this, should I open it inside??? So he was like go for it haha. So I slightly suspected what it was and was slightly freaking out.... perhaps more than slightly.... And I waited so very very patiently (so did my bestie, she suspected the same as I did) until he said the word and I tore it open and it was...... *drumroll*...... A canon rebel xs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So after the AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I had the best time playing around with it. I've been wanting it for quite a while and my husband decided to reward me for my patience. He's sweet like that :) So my bestie is showing me the ropes and I am loving it. Unfortunately life is CRAZY busy so I haven't had much time in between life to play with it much but heres a few shots I was able to catch.

These I took when we were messing around with perferated paper peelings. Yes this is what we do when we're alone. I posted them just because they're entertaining :) By the way the heart just happened to fall that way. And it has a mustache. Moving onnnnnnnnnnnnn....

My kitty smelling a grapefruit....

This one is my favorite. I'm reallllllllllly looking forward to getting outside soon to play with it! And I'm realllllllllllllllly really looking forward to scrapping some new pics :) Thanks for looking!

Good times with Dessert Sushi...

Anyone that knows me knows that I am a huge fan of gilmore girls, thats my show, and me and my besties were inspired by one episode to make dessert sushi. So we got together the largest ammount of sugar that has ever been in my house. Fruit roll ups, mini marshmallows, twizzlers, red hots, hershey kisses, skittles, icing, chocolate syrup, fun dip, reeses pieces, starburst... etc etc.

And so we began to use our creative geniuses to create these culinary masterpieces. It was quite a messy process but we had the greatest time and enjoyed every second of it. Of course all the sugar in our systems probably helped with that haha.

While they didn't all turn out good (we had a reject plate as well)...

And my kitchen was quite a mess afterward...

They still tasted absolutely delicious! I describe it as tasting like the huge wall of sweet candy smell that smacks you in the face when you walk into a candy store. I only ate two pieces but that was enough to put me into quite a sugar shock haha. But good times were had by all and we enjoyed some tea lattes during the sushi making process...
We just might have to do it again soon :)
